What kind of camera!!!! Can't Post

I'm in the audio/visual field, but I don't have a tremendous amount of experience w/ cameras. I want the camera to be quite versatile. Looking for something I can use to move around with, without lugging around too much weight. I want to film weddings, corporate meetings and presentations, as well as sporting events. I am looking in the $2,000.00 to $2,500.00 range.

Consider the Canon GL2 or Sony VX2100.

If you are going to do corporate work, you should consider saving up for an XL1s or a used XL1. I have a GL1 and the picture is great but the camera looks like a consumer (non-professional) piece of equipment. Just for the "look", I am getting an XL1s for the main camera and use the GL1 for B-roll. Appearances do make a difference in some circles so it is something to consider. Good luck.
PS: If the appearance doesn't bother you, go for the GL2. I just did a shoot with a rented XL1s as the A-camera and my GL1 as the B-camera. The image quality appears to be either identical or a slight bit better on the GL1.

I love my Canon XL1. With the ability to change lenses and with all the add-ons that are available for it, you have a camera that's just about as versitile as anything out there. For the more serious stuff, you can add a matt box, follow-focus, and there's even a company that makes an attachment which allows you to connect cine lenses to it for amazing results. In my book, you can't go wrong for the price!
