Wireless Receiver on the A1 Can't Post

With my XL2 I used to attach my wireless receiver on the bracket that attaches to the rear of the camera. Now that I'm switching to the XH A1, I'm not sure where to put my receiver. I'm guessing it will attach somehow to the shoe up top, so there must be some sort of attachment I need to get. Can anyone clue me in?

That's funny....that was going to be my first question about the A1! Cool

On the Sony cams, as well as the rental XL2 I used, I simply velcro'd one receiver to the camera battery. Worked perfectly, and helps put some much needed weight on the back of the cameras. But on the A1, I'm not sure that will be a good idea or not. I need the shoe for the light, and I cringe at the thought of brackets.

Senn G2 receivers are so small, maybe I could velcro it on the top handle, which I've done before with Sony cams. At least the weight would still be sorta towards the back.

Can you velcro it to the battery door? Of course, you would possibly loose the ability to use your viewfinder.

Technology. It does wonders if you know how to use it.

Attaching it to your cameras hotshoe works great. But if you are also wanting to attach a camera light to the camera as well then you might want to check out this (very) low profile hotshoe adapter from PAG.

I use it with with my PD170 (Samson receiver and PAG C6 or Varalux light), which has a similar hothsoe mic setup as A1.

PAG 1020 Soort Extender

It's very low profile and hard plastic so it's very light weight and sturdy.
Much better than attaching antlers tot he top of the camera like the cool lux adapter. Wink

Check out vfgadgets.com they have an HDV handle bracket. I use one as a low mode for my stabilizers and you can also use it to mount the receiver right on top of the handle, although you won't be able ot use the playback controls with it mounted.

Thanks for the tip. The extendor takes care of the question of how I use my wireless receiver (I have a Samson, buy the way) and a light at the same time.

I may be having a blonde moment here, but I somehow am not finding anything to attach my Samson receiver to the hot shoe.

Thanks. I checked it out, but I don't think it will work for me. I anticipate using the handle quite a bit while shooting, so I don't want it obstructed by the wireless receiver.

Ah got you covered on that one too.

I have teh Samson Micro 32 Diversity UHF system.

I took this Sennheiser CA2 Shoemount Adapter and then took a trip down to my hardware store (Lowes, Home Depot).

Take your receiver and the CA2 adapter plate with you.

You are bringing your receiver along to make sure that you get the proper threaded metal screw to screw into the back of your reciver.

Then just find the proper length metal screw that will screw through the bottom of the CA2 (CA2 has small holes all through it) into your receiver.

I think it's assadine that Samson never got around to making a shoe adapter for their units (I hate velcro).

Brackish mentioned this plate that comes standard with the Sennheiser EW100 series wireless. So I picked one up to see if I could rig it for my Samson, and it worked like a charm.
