XH-A1.... can I? Can't Post

Was wondering if I have a single mic input (shotgun via XLR) and I set it to the appropriate Ch1+2 setting so it takes up both channels....can I set it up so that I have individual control of the audio channels. In other words have channel 1 be set higher than channel 2. Currently only the CH1 dial adjusts the sound.

I know that it's the same signal but would like to adjust like this strategically to account for very low sounds or very loud ones, switching to the appropriate channel in post rather than massaging audio bands.

TIA

Nope, you can't do that. You can only do that with the on-board mic.

This is what ws great about the onboard audio on the old Sony PD170's.

You were able to turn down a mono shotgun mic (sent to both channels) independently like you want to do.

As far as I know none of the newer Sony cams do this either. Pitty, as it was a pretty good feature. Especially when I was using my AT822 stereo mic, for onboard audio.

Could you not get an inexpensive XLR splitter and run the shotgun signal into both inputs and do it that way. I would try that...can't cost too much. My shotgun works off phantom or onboard battery. With the onboard battery I don't see why that plan wouldn't work. You would have a small extra piece of cable as a downside.
