XL1 4 Channel sound Can't Post

How do you get the sound from ST2 downloaded over the fire wire. I have tried all sorts of combinations but to no avail.
Please help!!

Th 40channel sound (if present ont he tape) is just naturally oputput from teh XL1 firewire port. You need to use a capture program that supports 4-channel sound capture. Many moderate cost NLEs do not support 4-channel sound capture. You need to read the specifications of yor capture sysstem carefully. This scarcity is because becaue few camcorders support recording 4-channels.
A work around is to capture the ST2 sound via an analog audio card and resync in post/

I am using Adobe premier 6.0 and DV500. Are these allright to use?

I am not sufficiently familiar with DV500 to know whether or not it supports 4-channel capture. Maybe someone else can answer.
