XL1 Timecode Can't Post

I have transferred a number of Beta SP tapes to mini-DV. The Beta SP tapes were time encoded using the hour (i.e. hh:mm:ss:ff) for each tape. The tapes were transferred on Sony equipment and the Beta SP timecodes were transferred and appear on the Sony equipment no problem but the XL1 doesn't seem to like the hour timecode greater than 7 - the timecode just displays as --:--:--:--. Anyone seen this before? Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation with the XL1?
