XL1 audio input from... Can't Post

What would be the best method to tape the audio comming from a 1/8" pin from a 16mm film projector?
I'm transfering some old footage shot back in '83 to my XL1~~X~~ to DVD...
Thanx,
Glen

Some projectors have a speaker out and a line out: use the line out. If it only has a speaker output, I would run that into a mixer and turn down the projector's volume control: then set the mixer controls at mid-range and adjust the projector's volume control until the VU meter (or LED lights) on the mixer are below red (not in the red, below it).
