XL1 vs. GL1 Can't Post

I'm about to take the next step and buy a digital camera to make movies (I want to graduate from Hi-8). For an aspiring filmmaker on an extremely limited budget, what are the tangible advantages of the XL1 over the GL1? If I can't afford extravagant lighting packages and sophisticated microphones, will I still benefit from the XL1?

Movies are all about light and sound. Buy whatever camera you want.
