XL1s eats tapes Can't Post

I've been having trouble with two aspects of tape handling. I've noticed that there appears to be a tape alignment issue between the XL1S and my DVCAM deck. Sometimes when I playback a tape recorded on the XL1S on the DVCAM deck there will be serious blocking and audio interruptions. The plays OK on the XL1S.

Another problem is that sometimes when rewinding a tape in the XL1S, I get an "eject tape" error message. I've even had the tape hang up in the camera and get torn-- a real tragedy, of course.

I've used cleaning tapes on both camera and deck. I now use a Mini DV tape rewinder. I plan to send the camera back for a checkup. By the way, I've been advised by Panasonic tape experts that the cleaning tapes are simply DV tape with no lubicant, so they are slightly abrasive and should be used, but used sparingly.

I'm using Panasonic AY-DVM83MQ, 83 minute master tapes. After discussion with Panasonic tape experts, I do not suspect the tape.

Has anyone had similar tape handling problems with their XL1S?
