XL2 - grinding noise??? Can't Post

Hi everyone,

We just acquired the XL2 and I notice that when I turn the camera on (whether in in VCR or camera mode), a grinding/purring noise can be heard. It stops after a few seconds. Is that normal for the XL2 or should I be concerned enough to send it back.

Thanks a bunch.

Sandy

Is it just the initializing of the heads getting into position?
Is this sound much louder than when compared to your old cams or other cams?
Does it SOUND broken or just like it's 'warming up' so to speak?

It's hard to say until we can hear it too. It wouldn't be a bad idea to bring it into a service shop just to have them hear it and tell you if it's normal or not.

Cheers!

hi andrew,

that could be it. tried it again at different intervals over the pat few days and it makes three clicking noises then stops. the original "grinding noise" has not happened again and it's been reduced to these clicks (guess we'll see what happens at this weekend's events). it only bothered me since we also have two older canon model xl models that never made that noise when turned on. if that's normal for the xl2, i can accept that as long as i know that's what other xl2 owners hear when the camera is switched on. thanks for your response.

cheerio,

sandy
