XL2 officially announced Can't Post

After five years of rumors, it's reality: http://www.usa.canon.com/...se/20040713_xl2.html

Some highlights include: "60i, 24p or 30p frame rates, 4:3 or high resolution 16:9 aspect ratio, new 680,000 pixel progressive scan CCDs, and a full line of customizable controls for cine-looking results. Along with its new 20x interchangeable lens... two built-in XLR connectors with 48v phantom power" and a professional BNC jack for4 analog video in and out.

This means native 16:9 support: no expensive lens or fake electronic widescreen needed and the viewfinder (including new flip out LCD) can be set for 16:9.

Cannon's suggested price: $4,999 compared to $4699 for the XL1s.

There's a complete feature list at http://consumer.usa.canon.com/...mp;modelid=10350#f11
