Always check the Specs, The XL1 has no analog in, only out? The GL1 has in/out, go figure? The cheap solution is to buy a convertor at $399 or the expensive way is to buy another camera like I did (PD150) this has a transcoder that allows you to transfer analog to DV without having to record to tape, straight to the computer, nice feature. Canon needs to address this issue I have the XL1 also, its a great camera but when Canon releases the XL2 it better have this feature and also address other shortcomings. Good Luck!!!!!!!
