black an white with XL1 in cstm. Preset? Can't Post

Somebody told me, that I could record black an white, when I gain the color to 0 in cstm. Preset. But everytime I leave the menu the picture is colored again. So how can I record without colors?
(excuse my bad english please)

Hi -

This doesn't answer your question directly, but - why not continue shooting in color and just b/w it in post production ?

Since I've never tried that I don't know if the image is different (better/worse/the same) when shooting in black and white over shooting in color then post prod in black and white.

Anybody know the answer to paragraph two ?

Thanx

To record without colour, go to MENU>CUSTOM PRESET>COLOUR GAIN. Set gain (-), or as far left as possible. This should eliminate colour in your recorded video. However, I have never tried this apporach.

You can also go to MENU>DISPLAY SETTINGS>EVF DISPLAY (or some thing similar ). Here you can eliminate colour in the VIEWFINDER ONLY as a means of simplifying focus. Recording remains in colour, unless you have changed the COLOUR GAIN SETTINGS.

My personal advice would be to record in colour, then eliminate the colour in your computer editing system.
