No. The original XL1 does not support analog video input.

I have the XL1s. I've seen the XL1s used as an A/D converter to convert analog
vhs directly into a mac laptop g4. I can't remember how this was done.
Here's my set up...
powerbook g4, XL1s, final cut pro.
Here are the connections...
firewire from the computer to the XL1s,
analog cables from XL1s to vhs deck.
Hint...
When the computer is not on, the XL1s recognizes the vhs deck as the input
and the vhs tape can be monitored in the XL1s viewfinder.
However, when the computer is then turned on, the XL1s recognizes the
computer as the incoming source. 'DV IN' appears in the XL1s screen.
How can I use the XL1s as the pass through a/d converter (which I've seen
done) to move vhs directly into the computer?
Thanks,
David
