capturing HDV footage... is it supposed to be slow? Can't Post

so, i shot my first gig w/ some canon a1's last weekend... now i'm trying to mark stuff to be captured in final cut... the problem - as i'm previewing the footage, it takes 5 seconds or so before the image shows up on the screen, then if i want to rewind/preview, it will rewind for 8-10 seconds before i can actually preview the rewind/ff... so, it seems like there's a delay... is there a way to get around this or is this just how hdv stuff works because it's so large?

i hope my question makes sense.... Crazy

Wow you selectively capture? Anyways yeah that will happen with HDV. I think you best bet is to just batch capture and cut it up in your NLE.
