composite video in for XL1: exists? Can't Post

i hope i am totally missing something... Someone please tell me i am overlooking something obvious..How could it be possible for a "highend" camera, such as the canon xl1 to not support composite video in??? My brothers consumer sony camera allows for video input...why not the XL1??

Not there, just IEEE1394 input. The XL1 was designed as a video capture device: subject->lens->ccd->tape, not as a Video tape recorder roughly 4+ years ago now. Analog video input was not considered an important feature for the intended market back then, and would hve added to the cost of the machine. It was mainly a consumer market requirement. But things change over time: the GL1 has it, and the XL1 successor will probably include it.
