firewire problem Can't Post

Hi i have a canon gl-1 and im triing to connect it to my computer, it did work before, about 2 months ago but now when i plug it in it deoesnt see it at all. No ping sound to annonce the detection, if i plug my laptop in the firewire of my desktop it does detect it right away. I have windows xp pro sp2 install on my desktop, im not sure if its the connection in my camera that is broken... Iwanted to open my camera to look at it but i cant find the way to do it.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Same wire in both cases? If yes, I'd say send the camera in for repair. If not, try a different cable first.

before taking it in to a shop, i would try it on another computer first. It may be your firewire card on the PC side and not the cam's problem at all.

Also, try upgrading drivers for your NLE and capturing software as well as a downloading and upgrading the firmware on your capturing hardware.

Good luck.
Cheers!
