gl1 date Can't Post

Is there any way to prevent the date from coming up on the Lcd when I turn on the cam. I went into the menu and turned it off but it still comes on. It goes off when I hit record . Is there somthing wrong with the cam ?

Don't know of anyway to defeat it. Date and time zone always appear for a bit when the camcorder is powered on. Serves as a reminder I guess, so you can be sure to have the correct local time stamp if you shoot while traveling.
