I am using Panasonic AY-DVM63XB from Tape Resources. They come recommended and are for professional use. I also have used Sony ME, which are reasonably priced and worked very well.

I have tried the JVC tapes, and was disappointed in the results. From time to time you will get a bad spot in the tapes. For that reason I have decided to never use the JVC tapes again.
My personal choice for tape, and I have not experienced any problems in over 100 tapes that I have used is the Sony MiniDV PR. This is the Premium tape made by Sony and it works without problems every time. The DVM60PR is currently priced at $7.49 on TapeResources.com. They sell them in 5-tape boxes.
I have searched high and low for best tape pricing, and I find that taperesources.com is the place to shop. I generally get the tapes I order the next business day.
