l1 vs l2 vs digital 8's for a small budget "high end" result	Can't Post

i'm looking to make a presentation that has to have a high end look to it.... i'm not in the market yet for the vx2000 or xl1 and i've seen the l1 and the l2 by canon are fairly inexpensive... i realize its great to have firewire and these don't have it... should i go to the cheaper canon or sony digital 8's or should i do the l1 or l2 knowing that the editing process will take a bit longer on the computer.... is there any sites that have info on the l1 and the l2 differences.... well thanx in advance and this is a great forum..... cheers!!!
