lavalier mic for xl-1 Can't Post

Hi
Does anyone have suggestions for a lavalier set-up with the canon xl-1. I'll be using it in northern Pakistan (mostly for interviews) so want to stay away from wireless because of potential run-ins with the military. I've been thinking about the Sony ECM-77B hooked up to the MA-100 with a 30 foot cable. Any experience or thoughts on other set-ups?
Thanks
Ken

I haven't used the Sony, but I expect its lots better than the Radio Shack unit I have used. I never had any problems other than dead batteries and tripping over the cable.
One other tip, make sure you use really good cables. The first cheap cable I used was nothing but problems.
