mic suggestions Can't Post

I need a self-powered "mini-shotgun" mic for my Canon A1, good enough to also use with a GL-1.
I know of the Senn ME66/K6, and the MKE300 (cheaper), and the Beyer MCE86S. Any suggestions between these or other choices? Also, would I need some sort of shock mount, or is the cold shoe mount OK? Which shock mount offers "bang for the buck?"
Thanks,
Frank

What is your budget? The may be the deciding factor. The MKE300 works, but will record only on the left channel unless you add a mono-to-stereo adapter. Also, it has high output level so you may wish to use the MIC ATT position. It uses size 44 watch batteries, about 200 hours per battery.
But do not count on great sound quality with the MKE300 compared to the ME66/K6, it is a budget mic. The ME66/K6 will require that you have an XLR-to-mini-phone adapter/converter. Can't speak to the Beyer. Somethng like the Beachtek or Studio 1 may be the ticket.

Take a look at the Azden SGM-2X. Great microphone and great buy. Comes with two barrels and a shock mount. I have it and love it.

I really like the Sennheiser 66 setup. Perfect shockmount is from www.lightwavesystems their minimount and miniscreen (windsock) are ideal. I use the Studio 1 xlr mixer into my GL 1.
