pass through Can't Post
can the xl1 do a pass through? trying to get vhs footage into the computer as my capture machine (ADS instant dvd) isn't working. thanks.

No. Options are to copy to DV tape using analog inputs then cap to computer thru firewire.Are you saying you have an ADS unit that isnt working?Maybe try to determine what is wrong with it.Or replace with something like Canopus ADVC100 or a cheap camcorder with passthru.

The XL1 does not have input via RCA or S-Video. That was added on the XL-1s. You'll need something else to do the conversion such as a convertor box (like a Canopus ADVC-100) or a camera that does allow analog in or something like a deck.
