xl1 image qaulity help needed Can't Post

I recently purchased a used XL1 after my GL1 decided to die. I know the XL1 is supposed to have grerat image quality but it seems I do not know how to set it to do so. The colors all seem pale and I feel as if my GL1 looked a lot better. My main question refers to a setting from the GL1. I remember going in to one of the menus and turning the contrast all the way up on the GL1 and noticed a significant boost in the image qaulity. I think the setting was actually called "FINE". It basically made everything more detailed in my eyes. My XL1 clearly is lacking in that area and I wish to have it look the same way the GL1 did. If you can give me any advice on how to achieve this, or tell me where this settting is (if it exists) I would highly appreciate it. I feel stupid spending more money on this camera than the last and not being happy with the results after filming with it.
