xl2 Can't Post

it's true!! there is an xl2 (but it's not called the xl2) on the way; look for it this fall (early sept and I can say no more) look for MANY improvements (but no fold out LCD) new electronics more like the GL1 but even better; same shape; same lens mount; same battery adaptor; same viewfinder but MUCH much cooler. you've been warned!

Re: xl2 Can't Post

With all due respect...
Remember the dad's red car (Porsche?) from the film "Ferris Beuller's Day Off"? Well, I've just spent the last 18 hours straight with my XL1, and, as in the film, I can't roll back the odometer on it, or wish that I had never taken it out of its garage (my nice porta-brace reinforced soft shell case). However, I CAN wipe it down gently with a soft diaper and cuddle with it (if i'm not too rough), and not feel too bad that I didn't wait just a few more months for this supposed XL2. (Maybe I'll grab one of those as well.) In the meantime, I'll keep having fun. Deep Throat, eh..? Sounds a bit fishy to me.
The following response was written under extreme delerium, due to lack of sleep, vitamins minerals etc. Have a Nice Day! Oh, and some beers as well... No malice is intended.

Well just don't forget that there are a pile of VX1000s and TRV900s out there and they still cost considerably more than the top end of the single CCD cams. I'm sure the XL-1 price will probably go down, but I would not expect it to fall into the sewer.
For me, I will wait until the bugs are known and are corrected if they be severe. Then I will put my XL-1 up for sale, because it is still one heckuva a cam.

:Thanks for the advance info, Deep Throat, but if the electronics are going to be like the GL-1 (that is, the same 3
1/3 inch CCD chips that the XL-1 has now), that's no improvement at all. The competition offers double, triple, or more pixels,
which is a tremendous advantage to those of us who need to print stills from our videos. I had hoped that the XL-2 (or whatever it's name will be) would bring the ability to shoot video with 35mm lenses into the high resolution arena. Your sneak preview is devastating.

Oh, how I would love to believe it, but this kind of talk has been going on for how many years now?
