Avio "Countdown" Can't Post

I am submitting my 1st program to community TV. The staion requires 30 sec color bars and tone, 10 sec slate and 10 sec countdown. The station manager says "A 10 sec countdown is black for the last 1 1/2 sec. The last number you see is 8 and at 8 1/2 sec it is black"
The Avio 10 sec countdown goes from 10 to 1 for the whole 10 seconds.
Anyone know anything about this?
Thanx,
Les

Re: Avio "Countdown" Can't Post

I have used the countdown before like that and what I did was to make a scene with a 10 sec countdown and then open in the trimmer and trim off 1.5 seconds off the end and have a scene of 1.5 seconds of black to put on the end.
I took the one I made and firewired it back to tape with an additional 2 second white scene at the end so I could just reload it and trim off the white and have a perfect 10!

Hi Les,
The Countdown will go down to 2, and then a straight cut to black. As mention before use the trimmer to trim off the one and half of the two. You NEVER want to see the 1,
The reason to go to black, is when they roll the tape to air, they do not want to the public to see the 'countdown', because the tape operator or the Technical Director may get too excited. So when the switch is press early you will see black.
Plus, in a news story, instead of black, they have their video start as soon as the 'two'goes away, and then when the time hit "Nat Zero" that is when the audio will start.
