Brightness Can't Post

Hi! I use the Prestige and I was wondering if there is a way to fix the brightness in editing. We shot a wedding yesturday and one of our VX2000s had a little sun, like half a sun in a box in the lower, left corner. People's faces were really bright in some shots. I was just wondering if I can fix this in post production.
Thank you,
Suzi

Once the faces are washed out from being too bright, there's nothing you can do. Sorry. Too dark can sometimes be improved.

Re: Brightness [In reply to] Can't Post

Suzi,
As Bob indicated, you cannot 'untaint' your over-exposed footage. Here are a couple of fixes you may wish to try however;
1. If you have a lot of footage that needs touch-ups and if you are importing your signal via composite (S or RCA) you can make adjustments to your video signal in the Video Settings screen.
2. Once your footage is recorded in to your Casablanca, you can use one of the filters found in the Special button in the Edit Screen.
Control Image gives you the ability to modify the Brightness and Contrast. I recommend going to Full Size preview and adjusting these controls to see what impact it affords you. Also recommend selecting 'Original+Effect'. This will show your original footage on the left side of the monitor and the resultant Effect on the right side -- important as sometimes drastic changes can look as 'alien' as original tainted footage.
Regards,
Chet

Suzi,
It's called lens flare...and once you shoot your scene with it in it... the best you can do is accept it. Bob gave you the proper reply and Chet gave you the Prestige factory manual reply...best thing to do is remember basic shooting rule number one...ALWAYS keep the sun to your back...you'll get great video and obviously no flares.
Also remember not all mistakes in shooting can be saved in post...lessons in this business can be very expensive.

Re: Brightness [In reply to] Can't Post

Actually we were indoors with no windows. The sun was not a factor. My husband was hooking up mics before the ceremony and he must have hit something. After I watched it again I realized it was not so bad, thank goodness!
