Cassie Clasic Upgrade Advice Can't Post

Hey guys/girls
This is the first time i have used this forum and in the short time i've had to check it out looks like a great resource. I own a cassie classic purchased many years ago. I have the accelerated (060) i believe and do not have the digital firewire card. What i want to know is.... is it possible to add a firewire card myself and load up the software thus converting my ever faithful system to a digital unit?? I know i can trade it in but it seems as though it would end up being too expensive compared to the currently available computer based systems....and i really want to stick to the cassie format and reliability. If this is possible which firewire cards are suitable and how do i go about upgrading the software....or am i just dreaming??
The reason i thought this was possible was because i know the system is based on the amiga system (i think?) and figured that as these pc systems are still in use by their fans that they surely would have firewire boards attatched??...... This is a heck of a ramble but i would sincerly appreciate advice and corrections on this issue in the hope that i can continue using my Cassie in the digital world.
Cheers
Pete
p.s. I am from Australia. Thanks again.

Peter, you may want to consider taking advantage of the upgrade to a Prestige. You get additional software and the software you have for your classic can be transfered to the Prestige.
You can check out the offer at http://www.casablanca.tv/newindex.cfm?showsecondarylinks=true&primarylinkID=974&showcontent=true&linkID=1228.
Good Luck

Re: Cassie Clasic Upgrade Advice [In reply to] Can't Post

John,
Thanks for the advice and i have checked that link. However $2600 US (remember I am in Australia and it works out a lot more) is a pretty huge amount for what i was thinking. Is there any chance of adding my own firewire card?
Thanks again.
Pete

For US$500, you can upgrade your classic to DV (see http://www.mcnallysplugandplay.com ) ... otherwise, yes, you're correct in thinking that the whole Casablanca Cult thing has done a flip-flop. Now they are no longer an economical alternative to traditional editing, but are underpowered and overpriced dinosaurs that eat money continuously for minor ability updates. For instance, the AvioPro I sunk over $2000 into a couple years ago will cost over $600 if I simply wish to use a 160GB hard drive. I can get a whole new PC system for that!
I keep wanting to update and make good use of these Avios and Kron I have, but it seems impossible to do it at a reasonable price. They're just not worth it anymore.
