Re: KRON is being discontinued? Can't Post

At the end of September 2003, MacroSystem announced the final availability of the Kron PLUS upgrade and that there are no additional Casablanca Kron editors being manufactured. Jörg Sprave, President of MacroSystem DE did mention the following in reference to the Kron and its replacement (on the Cassie Tips List).
This replacement Mr. Sprave mentions is _very tentatively_ targeted for release in Spring of 2004.
"The other thing is that there will be a replacement for the Kron soon. It's
time. We brought the Prestige, we upgraded the Avio. The next product to be
upgraded will be the top of the line unit. Some of you might have seen the
features of the design study we recently presented at the Berlin show. These
were all ideas for a new top Casablanca, which will be put into a concept
right now based on the feedback we got.... the next spring will probably see a
new unit (if we can make it happen)."

For those of you editing on a Casablanca Kron/Kron PLUS, know that Kron/Kron PLUS use the very same operating system as the Avio DVD, Prestige and Video Coach which are products that continue being manufactured. That means developments in Operating Systems and supplementary software WILL operate in the Kron/Kron PLUS as well.
Rather than hysteria, please digest the following follow-up post from Mr. Sprave:
"There is absolutely no plan, not even the slightest idea, to leave the platform we're on.
Future software will be compatible with the old machines. It might be necessary to
put more RAM into older machines for a new piece of software, but that's it.
We'd be fools to abandon the CPU we're using, as 95% of all modern computers
use the same.
There will be new models with new hardware power, but the differences will
be like the difference between an Avio, a Prestige and a Kron. We're not
leaving the platform."
