THE story on djrock's souped up stuff Can't Post

What is the story? I'm trying to keep this stuff in the normal,
non-commercial realm. So what is the DJRock stuff? Do they just
buy the OverDrive processor and stick it in a stock Avio to get
higher speeds? It seems to me I could just buy some kind of AMD
K6-3+ processor somewhere that is rated to overdrive a computer
motherboard that takes Pentium MMX 233's, and I can probably get
the same bang for less bucks than the DjRock guys. Is that true?
Anyone here know about the computer stuff underneath the Avio to
understand that it is just a Socket 7 motherboard with a fairly
slow processor? I am wondering if the Avio would need a system
upgrade to take a different processor, though.

I asked on Banned Bob's forum for some answers regarding the processor upgrade some time ago now. To date there has been no reply from DJ Rock so I can only assume he didn't have the answers.
My suggestion to you my friend is keep your money in your pocket until he can provide some answers.

Over Clocking [In reply to] Can't Post

I have one of ROCK's souped up units.....he occasionally sells inventory off on EBAY.

The CPU is an AMD but the embedded operating system chip is changed to a DIP which means I think some changes were made there. My original AVIO runs slow as all hell when I put the AMD chip in it....and when I put the Intel 233 in my ROCK AVIO it would not even boot up.

I suspect it is a software upgrade along with the CPU.

By the way the AMD driven AVIO is almost twice quicker than my original stock with Intel 233.
