Upgrade from 40-80 drive O/S Smart Edit3 Can't Post

Please forgive my ignorance about this software. A friend of
mine asked me to do him a favor >upgrade a 40 gig drive to a
80gig drive in his father-in-laws Avio. I said I would give it a
shot .The old guy is somewhat retired and I guess did not want
to put out all kinds of bank to get this upgrade from a dealer
( I think he is a minister or a teacher). I am trying to use
Norton Ghost (basically making a mirror image of drive) on my
computer. BUT I get this error says bad sector run scan disk. I
see that the drive is partitioned. My question is there software
that will copy (mirror image) the 40 gig and install onto new 80
gig drive. Or if I get the boot disk (smart media) and the
software can I install the software onto the new 80 gig drive?
Thank you for any advice.

There is no need to go through all of that. Just remove the 40GB drive and put in the 80GB drive. The software can all be reinstalled from the SmartMedia cards it first came on. All registered software codes are remembered by the memory inside the box. If you don't have the cards, any dealer can download the software onto the cards for free.
