analog to cassie then to dv Can't Post

will there be a noticable loss in the signal if i upload a footage
shot in hi-8 to the cassie then offload it to a dv cam thru firewire
connection.(i'm doing this to store unfinished projects to dv rather
than me buying expensive hard drives)

I doubt that you'll see any generation loss. I've brought Hi-8
into a Cassie, edited it, brought it out to SVHS and then made
a VHS copy from that. I was very impressed with he quality so
yours should look even better.
Try coming out to DV with the S cable. You may find there's
no discernable difference between that strategy and the more
expensive firewire output. See my Cassie review in the
Free Library (available at the header of this forum)

I've gone so far as to go S-VHS to DV to DV to VHS (DV transfer to and from cassie through Firewire) at Low S-VHS Compression and it looks just as good. SO, don't worry.
