My recommendation: Leave the 40Gig as your system drive and use the new 200Gig drive as your "video" drive. Use the big drive to store all of your media files. It's also best to NOT use your system drive as your media drive.

After you get the new drive installed, just copy the media files over to the new drive. Then defrag and image the C: drive to CD or DVD so you'll have an emergency restore point.

Absolutely. Not having to worry about capturing over a couple of hours and STILL having enough working room is very liberating. However, you STILL need to learn your applications well.

you may also want to look at adding additional ram to your system. Win xp is probably using about half of what you have, at present. And video loves all it can get. So will any transcoding application.

I kinda thought more ram would also be a shot in the arm too. I plan to put in a Gig of PC 3200 (dual channel) when I can save more money.Unimpressed
