Re: [Brackish] Anyone have any thoughts about the new Nikon ... [In reply to] Can't Post

My friend just got one - so far he seems to love it (he had a D70 previously). The only issue so farg is battery life - it's about 75% of the D70- I suspect that is because of the larger LCD display

I've heard from the folks in Korea that it has a banding noise problem.

I got one. Great awesome camera. Just got the grip yesterday.
I went from a Canon 20D to a D2x to the D200.
The D2x is still my favorite, but just needed the money so I sold it an bought the D200. Its 85% of the D2x so its everything I need.
Especially the weather sealing. No more panic attacks when it starts to sprinkle outside.

Oh, BTW, the reason I jumped to Nikon was due to three main things:

1) weather sealing. Canons lowest price cam that had it was still to expensive.
2) ergonomics. My hand used to ache after using my 20D, the D2x fit like a glove, though a heavy glove, but the best fitting camera I have ever held.
3) a friends D70s. I saw the pics out of the camera and they just blew my 20d images away. The colors and bokeh was just awesome.

And being a canon user for 20 years, it was an expensive switch, but well worth it.
I just want my D2x back. One of these days.......

But the D200 is an awesome camera, and I have had no banding issues at all. I personally think its a rare occurance and is only really noticable when you pixel peek.

Yeah, but for a commercial work, that's not acceptable. Unsure

I dont think they show up in RAW anyway. And something like a wedding, not sure why you wouldnt shoot raw.

I dont notice a huge difference between my d200 and 20d images at 1600. The D200 does pretty well.
And the ergonomics/layout is soooo much better than canon.

Alot quieter too. Nice for weddings. The 20D is so loud.
