Are YOU going to take advantage???

You know, Shadow, it's tempting. But I don't really
need a camera
right at the moment. And I've heard that some people
have had trouble getting their rebates because the
company that Canon hired to administer the rebate
program is, ALLEGEDLY, not all on the up-and-up.
And, also, I've heard Canon will be announcing their
new cams about February 24th - right after the rebate
ends - what a coincidence, huh?
You know, I have read where a guy said he was dating
a girl who used to work at that rebate administration
company. One of the problems some Canon owners have
run across is they sent in their UPC codes off the boxes
to prove their purchase and then they would hear back
that their rebate claim was denied because "didn't include
UPC code". ALLEGEDLY, this company's employees - the
ones who process the claim submissions - work out of
their homes and they'd get 500 or 1000 submissions letters
at a time to open and they'd have the papers strewn all
about their home, amongst children and pets running about.
Now, I guess that's okay but the boyfriend went on to
say that one of his girlfriend's co-workers showed the girlfriend
how some employees ALLEGEDLY go about taking the UPC codes
(for themselves) out of the submitted envelopes and telling the new
Canon buyer that they never received the UPC codes.
Then, ALLEGEDLY, the employee who removed the
UPC codes would give the UPCs to a friend and have the friend
submit them and they'd share the rebate.
Now, I have no way of knowing if this is true or not.
I will say there have been quite a few folks whose
claims have been denied because of missing
paperwork - when these folks say they were
particular about submitting everything that was
required.
