I've heard that some priests forbid taking photos during the vows because of the noise and that makes sense.

If this was a common problem with churches, you could always carry a high-end P&S, but I can't remember working a wedding where they weren't allowed to click away during the service. You'd think there'd be less complaints these days, since few are shooting with noisy motor-driven film cameras.

I can't remember, but imagine the days before all the guests were carrying digital cams..weddings probably sounded like an attack of the paparazzi, with all the shutter clapping and film winding.Tongue

I think that is a bit of overkill, but the Canon cameras are known to have a rather loud shutter click. Not an issue when there is any other kind of noise, but in a very quiet setting I can understand that it could be a distraction.

I would recommend just taking the necessary shots instead of doing some "overkill"...in other words, don't do any machine-gunning at a quiet venue.
