Anyone using Bridge ... I've got a problem Can't Post

I was just marking my photos in Bridge and I get an error message ... "there was an error writing metadata to image number XXXXX."

Then I have a grey icon at the top. If I hover my mouse over it, it says that it's a Unix Executable File with numbers I don't understand. Has my original file gone down the dumper?

I use bridge often, and haven't seen that. Has the extension changed and reseting will help (check in windows explorer)?

Is this an external drive losing connection intermittently??

Sorry ... left out one important piece ... I'm on a Mac. And yes ... it changed. Went from Smith_095.jpg to 4A696D4C. Unsure
