Boudoir Session (Warning! Partial Nudity) Can't Post

One of the highlights of our recently concluded Photocongress (apart from the Sony Video Contest) was the Boudoir Photo session. There were five staging areas with models and the participants can freely roam to photograph. There was a cordon of course separating the models by a five feet perimeter. I just borrowed a camera and made the most out of a 10-20 Sigma.

There is a fairly big market here for women who want tasteful boudoir photos.
A little different than what was above, those seemed more like they belonged in a mens magazine.

But being a woman photographer comes in handy in this case as the women want some romantic photos to give to their husbands, but may not feel comfortable in front of a male photographer. Some photographers rent out a fancy hotel room with a fire place and have marathon shoots on Sundays. Basically women get a 1 hour photo session, proof book and some prints.

Yeah, it'd be hard for me to come off as a pro when I can't stop giggling. Tongue

j/k

Honestly, in 2008 I'd like to get some tasteful shots of some aspiring models...just some trade-for-portfolio work. There's lots of great urban backdrops around here that I like taking pictures at....just need better subjects to put in front of them. Cool But I don't know about boudoir shots yet....I'd be scared it might take quite a bit of practice/skill to make satisfactory photos with "non-models", especially if they are self-conscious already. I need more practice in lighting, posing, choosing backgrounds, etc.

I mean, pity the photographer that got hired to take boudoir shots of me:

Pretty good shots there Jason. I checked out the link before it came down so I got to see most of the gallery. In general, you want to use longer lenses for portraits and people shots as you will get more compression - which is flattering- less distortion, and you can get super shallow images. A 10-20 won't come close to what you could do with a 135 f2 or even a 50 f1.2- but you got some pretty good shots in there still.

Sorry- thats comes from the photo side of our company.

thank Pat. Yeah, the 10-20 was perhaps the worst possible lens choice for the shoot. But it was the only thing available to borrow. I just kept in mind to place the subject in the middle to avoid too much distortion. All shots were cropped. And all post work was done in Picasa.

The shoot was crazy, 200+ photogs in a dim hallway with trance pumping in the background. Smile Can't wait for next year.

Hey! thanks for kicking up a storm at DWF in that SDE post. WTG!

Yeah its great work for what you had to work with. It must have been tough not having better gear though.

DWF is a fun place to share video work. They are all so shocked when they see even something semi-decent. The SDE thread is pretty great for all of I think. We posted about or commercial that went national and that really caused a mess- they thought we were tying to put their industry out of business.

that comment was so silly it wasn't funny anymore.

Perhaps the poster hasn't seen a spot of advertising in his entire life. :)
