CF cards: does it matter Can't Post

Does it matter which brand of CF card you use? Whats the difference between series I, II, Extreme etc...

Wasn't there an issue with Lexar cards and Canon cameras? Probably cleared up by now, but I did stay away from them.

The series generally is an indicator of different data transfer rates. That is why they matter when your doing burst shooting. Camera can't shoot if its memory buffer is still filled with the last few images.

There is a philosophical question as to how large of a card to get... do you risk getting a large 10GB card and having all day's work lost/stolen/damaged at once?? Some recommend the smaller sizes to not risk loss. Some of the larger cards were risky when they first came out.

I have personally tried to stay in the 300 pics per card range. That's 1GBs for my Canon 20D, and 2GBs for the 5D.

I personally use the Extreme II series fron SanDisk. The burst transfer rate is better. Now having said that the studio that I recently began shooting for on my off days provides me with their cards which are the SanDisk 1 & 2GB cards. Not the Extreme cards at all. So the choice is yours but me personally I like knowing that if I ever need that extra burst ability it is there. I also agree that I would stay away from the cheaper cards if possible just for reliability issues. How do you tell a bride all her pictures are gone?
