Coolest software EVOR!!!! Can't Post

I don't get very excited about software applications anymore, however, this little gem really turned me on. Google's SketchUp. Talk about awesome. And it's 100% free. In less than 3 hours and with absolutely zero experience in 3D modeling I was able to very accurately model (to scale) my new camera room and do animated walk-throughs. It's helping me decide where to place stuff like furniture and prints on the wall and paint color, etc. I can see if something is going to fit or not, before I even have the flooring installed. It helped me communicate to the electrician where I wanted the 20amp circuits installed. Awesome software. Buy Google stock, you'll make money! This app is tied into Google Earth Smile

I know.Blush It only took 3 hours to build the first room but I've had my nose in that program for a couple days now...when I should be doing other things. Musta spent a couple hours just watching the videos. It's so cool. Now that I know how it works that room would only take about ten minutes to build start to finish.

Dude if that's "accurate" you have the funkiest architecture this side of the planet. The perspective seems overly forshortened. Or is it just me?

It's actually accurate to 1/16th of an inch. It looks distorted because I have it in 'perspective' mode in those screen grabs. There's another mode that doesn't look distorted.

The studio is located in a century Victorian house converted and rezoned for retail. Women absolutely love the quaint environment. Funky architecture indeed. Lots of angles inside and out. It's one of the reasons my Sister is kicking everyone's ass in the local bridal business. In less than two years she's averaging over 50k a WEEK in dresses out of this place (in a town of 12,000 people that's not too shabby...they're driving from miles to visit). Everyone else has the typical boring, cold, clinical space. This space is warm, cosy and inviting. I love it. She's a little genius.

I waste enough time on the forums, all I need is another toy to tinker with. Oh what the heck, I'll download later.

Looks pretty cool - is this in P.Perry?

I like the last picture, only because it reminds me of Bubble's shed. Smile I'm sure it is nothing like that inside, although, since you like cats you could have your own kitty land in there.
(No rude jokes please).

Pics look really nice.

Thanks H. Yes that's Port. You must be up there sometimes, you should stop in for coffee or vino. Open invitation. Paint is done and flooring goes down monday morning. Won't be long now.

re: Bubs' shed. lol...yeah it does look like that Laugh That's what the room would look like removed from the rest of the building. Picture a roof sloping where those 45 degree angles are cut, a change room area just outside the door, a gown display room beyond that and a cedar deck out those sliders (which I'm covering with nylon diffusion material to use as a big white background for making pictures like this:

I watched the movie two nights ago finally. I didn't find it very funny, but Bubs' kittens doing those little tricks were kinda cute.Smile
