Thanks a lot Brian. Those folks were all about the fun. I tried some goofy poses because they would have climbed a tree if I asked. People like John & Marianne make this job great. The latest we shot ... the bride was very pale which made it tough to color correct Now that I think about it, I never color correct much of anything. Just light temperture as I shoot everything raw at a fixed 5000k. On friday I booked my top package then learned later she's Irish (paste white) and he's from the Carribean (midnight black). She's wearing a dark maroon gown and he's wearing an 'eggshell' tux. I never feel pressure shooting weddings but this one might have a little extra adrenaline added. Even the bride's Father told me every single snapshot he's ever taken of them doesn't show the groom at all (dark face clips of course). He also said to not jump off a bridge if they all turn out with the groom too dark , which I thought was pretty cool of him to say considering how much money he's spending. Takes some pressure off. I'm just going to shoot natural light as much as possible and bracket at high speed. Five frames per second with a 3-frame bracket requires about half a second to make, so it might even be possible to make HDR images and blow them all away. Should be a great challenge in any case. trying to find a good balance without overusing PS effects Unless the look you strive to cultivate is a sort of 'Canon 30D look' then don't feel ashamed to use photoshop on your images. It's absolutely no different than processing/printing film. Push pull, burn dodge, embellishment, other techniques like switch processes, editing w/exacto-knive, etc. I never feel 'guilty' for ps manipulation because I know how much of it goes in darkrooms. Now, the liquify tool doesn't count. That's just cheating (but I use it anyhow) We struggle with too much magenta (usually on men's faces) not sure why. If you're having to adjust tint in camera raw frequently then maybe getting your camera profiled would help, then load the icc profile into ACR. A raw file contains absolutely zero color information. The ACR software is responsible for adding the proper colors to your image, and I think a custom profile would help this critical process. I'm not sure if you're running your color managment properly though, which would be required to take advantage of a custom camera profile. These photos seem to not have a color space embedded? (e.g. sRBG or aRGB). I like all your pictures you have up especially the first couple. My gawd what a beautiful girl she is; she's exactly my type. Anyways , my favs are the 2nd and the last one. THe first one is really nice too but it looks like he's holding her a bit too tight. I'd like to see the exact same picture with him using his far arm as primary support and the close arm resting on her hip with elbow bent, or just hanging at his side. And opening his shoulders up 2-3 inches more. If the bokeh is authentic on the first and last ones that's one gorgeous lens you have there! They're too small to tell for sure, but the depth of field on a couple of them seems surreal. And I can't forget: thanks for sharing them!
