Ever Holga mod your DSLR? Can't Post

After too many beers today, I tore the plastic lens off one of my Holga cameras, and tried putting it on my Olympus e-500.

A couple years ago I saw some internet story about someone doing it with a Nikon or something.

I took a body cap, cut a whole in it the size of a film canister, cut a film canister about in half and stuck it in there, then tore the lens off an old Holga.

I'm going to have to figure out a way to make the tube get longer/shorter so that I can focus through the whole range without letting light in.

But at least I know it works! I just took this photo holding the lens in front of the primitive assembly. Once I figure out how to get the focus part right, I'll glue the whole thing together and seal out the light leaks. (Not that Holgas are sealed from leaks...or focus great for that matter!Laugh)

Just took these, and thought it was interesting. The detail ain't too bad for a toy plastic lens...

Not bad at all considering.

Exactly. Or not enough time is more like it...and burnout makes me look for distraction. Laugh Just a fun experiment...although I did destroy a body cap in the process.

Actually I was trying to decide which photo camera to bring to Mexico with me on a wedding video job coming up. I don't really need a fancy DSLR, just something lightweight, fun, and simple, and something that wouldn't hurt if it got stolen or lost. (Not concerned so much with image quality...just content.) I got my Holga's out thinking one of them would be perfect...but then I remembered I'm too poor to shoot film these days. Laugh

I'll probably just pick up the new "pancake" 25mm f2.8 lens for my Olympus e-500, since it's my backup DSLR now, and doesn't have much of a resale value anyways. With the pancake lens, it will be a great travel camera, and fit in my leg pouch. And for only $250, that lens will be cheaper than shooting film in just ONE weekend. On Olympus the 25mm is a 50mm equivalent lens in 35mm format...which I like.
