Formals of the bride and groom alone? Can't Post

Hi, guys.

I just wanted to get your thoughts on whether or not
it is important to get formals shots of the bride by
herself and the groom by himself?

So far I haven't been taking these shots and no one has really
asked for them, but of course I'm just starting out so
don't have much actual experience with a lot of
photo clients.

So, what are your thoughts? Have you found that
couples request these "by themselves" shots?
Or is it no big deal to skip them altogether?

I guess I'm having a hard time understanding
why they'd want the "by themselves" shots
after they have been married.

The bride may want to have a large framed portrait of her in her gown...that is the only real reason I can think of...The ones I have seen were taken before the wedding at a formal shoot, though (not with the groom present).

Thanks, Postal.

Is this something that is done historically. That is ... is it
common for the mom and grandma to have shots
of themselves - by themselves - taken in their
wedding dress on the wedding day?
If so, I guess I could see carrying on the
tradition. But how common is this
tradition?

That much I don't know. Some of the ones I have seen are usually displayed at the reception on the same day as the wedding, so it is shot before at a formal/onsite shoot. Other than that, I don't know.

I think it is important. One of my favorite shots from my wedding was my husband by himself.
