Future Hockey Star Can't Post

Watch for Watson one day. So proud of my nephew. He just got selected into some league where only 4 players were chosen out of all of Ontario. Not sure what it is yet, but it's only a couple steps away from the NHL. 4 out of all Ontario is quite an accomplishment...Ontario is one huge place with many many hockey players in it. At 6' 4" he's going to be another Ken Dryden (with any luck)

Nice shots! That's always neat how sharp they come out shooting through the plexiglass. I don't think I could sneak a 200mm lens through security here.Tongue

That's funny, I walked down to the hockey game LAST Sunday, and the Chicago "Wolves" beat our ass 8-0. I met my family there, and we all left before it was over; how supportive we are.Laugh

Tonight we're (Houston Aeros) playing the Milwaukee Admirals. I'm thinking about walking down and seeing the game, but I think I bring bad luck. I've only been to two hockey games, and they got whipped both times. I don't think people on the Gulf Coast were built to play hockey. I believe we're in "last place", as far as I can tell from the stats. I'm not a wiz when it comes to most sports. Laugh

Thanks dude. Pretty tough to stick around getting beat 8-0. I'd have left too. It's part of being a fan, showing your bordom (imo). You're pretty lucky to be able to walk to the arena. I'm no sports nut either (far from it) but I like to take in the odd game. Pro hockey games are too expensive for me though. I refuse to pay $100+ for a seat ($200+ for a good one). These high-end amature games are just as fast and exciting to watch, and they're free.

I can't believe my post above made any sense. Was totally trashed last night after a jack and jill party Laugh Seeing all those old friends made me act like a stupid kid again. Was great!LaughLaugh ...but payback's a bit*h (oh me head).

Damn! I guess hockey up there is like football down here. Football tickets are so expensive, that I went to my very first game as an adult this past New Year's Eve, and the seats were in an area that had waitresses that took orders at your seat, and the concession area was air conditioned behind glass, and a cheeseburger + waffle fries was $12usd. Beers were $8. Of course we didn't pay for the tickets...the only time I hear about people with tickets, it's because they got them as gifts from a vendor. They're so expensive, I think businesses buy up all the tickets, to give to their clients and execs. We didn't stay at the game long, because we couldn't afford to drink. Laugh

Hockey tickets are dirt cheap. With a game starting in 5 hours, I can still go online, and get FRONT ROW tickets for $69. But the average price is less than $20. The place where I've sat my first couple of games, tickets cost $12usd, but my sister has season tickets.

Baseball and football bores me to tears, but hockey is pretty fun to watch. Unfortunately, there's not as many good looking women in attendance like there is at a crowded baseball game. But, there's a few, and it's a shorter walk home if you've had too many brews. You just gotta know where the hobo hideouts are, so you don't get rolled after dark going home. Laugh

That entire building is used for bridal shows?! It's at least the size of the ball stadium. Amazing. Everything IS bigger in Texas Smile

I know a lot of hockey nuts drive to Buffalo to watch games because the price is way more reasonable. Not sure if it's as low as $20 but anything's better than Toronto. Toronto is just absurd. I won't pay it. Haven't seen a live game since Sittler, MacDonald, Salming and Palmateer played for the Leafs. Those were the days.

At our arena (oldest in the NHL) you can stand at the top of a staircase where the players wives/girlfriends go down to their lounge at intermission time. Beautiful babes in most cases! I've lived through the 1970's Steelers domination and that was really cool. I attended a semi-final World Cup game between Italy and Bulgaria and that was also cool. But I've never experienced anything more fun than when our Penguins won the Stanley cup two years in a row. I was given front row seats for the first game of each series and the place was absolutely pandamonium! So was the bar down the street after the game!Blush
