Gary Fong LS2 shot Can't Post

Here is an untouched shot from last night from a bridal show at at a reception hall using the Gary Fong LS2. I really like the natural look it gives to things.

Wow, that is nice. Is that with or without a bracket? I guess that's the point - you don't need one? A bracket, that is...

And here is another. Again--as is out of the camera.

And yet another with the ls2 pointed at the subject from about 20 feet away at a guess. Again, it is straight out of the camera.

Yikes! someone cut that ladies head off! Just kidding (duh)
I have an LS2 also and love it - my only complaint is its size, it's kinda' bulky and hard to fit in a compact bag/case. But it DOES give great results.

Have to say it was easier when you could attach more than one image per messageCrazy One more LS2 shot!

This was my first time playing with it. Beats the heck out of a bracket! With a bracket, you don't have access to the camera controls in the same was as you do when it is resting in your hands.

Not to hi-jack your thread, but I agree the LS2 can be awesome!

I took this shot with a super high ceiling and it worked awesome.

That does look great! Gowns are so often blown out and loose the detail. You can even see detail in the tux.

Worked with a photog this past weekend who used the LS2 and boy did it throw great light in a dark venue, without any other supplimental lighting. The ceilings were a little lower than most halls we were in, but still, I was impressed with the diffusion.

Me think I might need another toy...

Oh, this is becoming addictive!

The photogs I worked with this weekend both had them. Their pics looked sweet! They used it pointing directly at the subject outdoors without the cup in it, and at the ceiling with the cup inside. There are 2 versions. Everyone seems to prefer the clear version the best. I think it is about $50.

As I understand it - there is the LSI which is the hard plastic one. And the LSII which is the soft. The dude from this weekend said he prefers the cloudy model as it diffuses better, in his opinion. I went to the Gary Fong website and saw that if you order it there, an instructional DVD is also included for $49. I don't think it's included from B$H, though I may be wrong.

It's funny - I asked him if he has a problem with it falling off a lot. He said, "Yeah, sometimes... - I just have to be careful not to swing it around or tip it too much..." and as he was saying it, he lowered his camera and it fell off. We both started cracking up.

Re: [Brackish] Gary Fong LS2 shot [In reply to] Can't Post

I have the LS2 and love it. I bought it from the Fong website a couple months back and it did come with the instructional DVD which I found to be very useful. I use it all the time, indoors or outdoors. I am shooting photo now for myself and for a larger photography studio on my off days. They all use Metz flashes with no LS but they liked my pics with the LS2 and my 580 flash so they hired me to shoot for them which fills in some of my off weekends and does not add to my backlog. I simply turn in the cards when I'm done with the wedding.

When doing formals, how much to you have to increase your FEC to get the light out?
