Gary Fong's Lightsphere II - great lighting and pest control Can't Post

I've started using this product more often on my shoots:

http://secure.mycart.net/catalogs/catalog.asp?prodid=3354218&showprevnext=1

Just recently had a wedding shoot on a beach. This bumblebee came along and took a liking to the bride's bouquet. The coordinators kept chasing it away and it kept coming back and bothering the bride. So after a few minutes of this craziness, I took the cover off of the Lightsphere, scooped the bumblebee out of the flowers with it, and put the cover back on. Went on shooting the rest of the photos with that little sucker buzzing around inside the Lightsphere. Didn't let him out until after I dropped off the film at the lab on the other side of the island.

Very useful product. ;-)

Is this the newest one? I heard he had a new one coming out I believe from jeko that was going to be a bit smaller. He was selling it only to previous customers first.

this is the lightsphere II, the opaque white one. I think you are referring to the Lightsphere Photojournalist, which Gary Fong just released - it's made of a clear flexible material, not hard plastic like the one I'm using. the Lightsphere PJ also has a dome cover, I believe, but it does not snap on like the version I have, so I'm not sure how that one would would work for beekeeping. ;-)

Can someone please explain to me how Gary Fong is 25X better than your average professional wedding photographer? He charges $125,000 for a 12-hour day.

Please explain to me how this is remotely reasonable!

(having said that, I wish I was him.)

Cheers!

Bumblebee to friends: "I'm blind! I'm blind! This horribly bright light kept going off all night right next to me. Oy, my compound eyes are giving me such a headache!"

Andrew,

Gary Fong has said he no longer wants to shoot weddings therefore he prices himself out of the budget. Many Photogs laugh at him, but he's got tons of people paying to sit in a room with him while he direct markets his goods.
