HDR Help Can't Post

So I have been reading tutorials on doing HDR in photoshop, but I'm not gettting results that I like (especially with people and skin tones). Maybe I am just using tone curves that are too extreme, but when the skin looks good I lose detail in bright areas of the photo that I want to retain.

Anyone have good results with HDR and people shots (I know Darren's night shot of the church was great, but no skin tones there) using CS3, and have any tips for me?
