Good to know. Also, your CF card brand manufacture may also provide recovery resources (at least, so I've heard from people trying to salvage something from them on photog forums).

SanDisk includes it with the eXtreme III cards, from their own description:

I've been using Photo Rescue for a couple of years. If you don't own it ... you can download the trial version, see if your files are on the card and then go ahead and purchase the software.

I haven't needed it yet, but a fellow photographer has been over here three times with files she could not find on her card. We were able to retrieve all but a couple.

I've used the sw from SanDisk twice with very good results. It even finds images you forgot about. But now we have accumulated a few different ways to recover almost anything.
Guess I started a good thread.

My first eXtreme III card arrived today, and sure enough the s/w disk was in there. Hopefully, I'll never need it still....

Actually had 3 instances that come to mind right now.. First one was self inflicted where before I numbered my cards I accidently picked up the wrong card of a graduation party and erased it. The next one was another photographer Julie knows who pretty much did the same thing but took out a wedding instead. BTW, 100% recovery. And the 3rd, my sister found a chip at a basketball game. Looking at what was on the chip didnt provide any clues as to who it belonged to, so I recovered all the previously deleted images to reveal the owner, but the end result was I ended up with a free
Ultra ll 512 chip.
