Low light champ... Can't Post

You know how the PD170/VX-2100 series are known as low light/wedding reception cameras....
What is a low light dslr? if such a creature exists... or is it all about the glass? if so, what glass?

I'm thinking this might be on the same level as a MAC vs PC question....Shocked

but let me know what you think.

thanks
Mike R.

For photography I'd say it's mostly about the glass. I'll vote for the Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM zoom...it's heavy though.

I heard someone say that paparazzi use the following rule: Nikons for day, Canons for night...but the glass REALLY has a lot to do with it...in other words, fast glass lets more light in.

Fast glass will do it whether it's Nikon or Canon. You just have to be aware that for the fast, wide apertures you will loose out on sharpness and your depth of field will be razor thin especially for 50mm on up.

With any kind of photography it's 95% about the lenses.

Hmmmm ... I coulda swore you had mentioned something about the low Canon high-ISO noise at one time. Guess it musta been someone else. Angelic

WLR - the dof is pretty wild with my 1.8 lens (50mm). It takes great pics, I think one of my fav lenses.

Julie has one too. I havent played with it yet though. But for the speed, light levels and right angle of view (and price) it can probably create some really good shots.
