I never wear them around my neck. Shoulders only. Looks like wearing that on your shoulder wouldn't work too well.

Re: [DarrenS] Neat camera strap for carrying two bodies at once [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, I've only ever carried one body at a time
but for my next shoot I'm going to try two
at once. With the one body, I have it around
my neck. At the next shoot I'm going to
try one body around the neck and one off the shoulder.
(I heard of a good camera strap - UpStrap - that's
not supposed to slip off the shoulder.)

I wouldn't be totally against trying the Reporters
Strap where you have two around the neck
but I'm wondering if that might get kind
of heavy after a bit.

Yeah that's the rub. The weight gives me neck pain. Shoulders, nadda. I hiked around the countryside with a pentax me w/80-200 zoom on my neck for years and maybe that caused it. Or maybe it was that time I fell off the trampoline. Or maybe it was that time... Laugh

Brack,

You'll look more professional having two cameras on you; there will be no mistake as to who the paid photographer is. Wink And, have one with a 200MM lens on it; looks impressive to the common folk who sling-out their DSLRs. Cool

I can see you and I are on the same page on this, John.

Another little "tip" to help us get the respect we deserve
is to make sure to always use a lens hood - makes your
equipment appear bigger.

See here ... this is Shadow's new lens on a cam ... it's
the 24-70 which is a good-size lens in itself even without
a lens hood:

Now have a look at that exact same lens but this time with the

lens hood:

Remarkable improvement, wouldn't you say?

I think it's self-evident which setup is more likely to bring

in the requests from the guests

to get your business card. Smile

This girl carried one on each shoulder all night. During the formals she also carried a stool because she's short. I thought she was so cute (albeit a lot younger), I think I got more video of her than the bride. Cool Other than being cute, she was one of the hardest working photogs I've worked with, and very professional in all respects. She'll have a promising career....

Well, here is my backup camera...think a lense hood would make it look more impressive?

Agreed Brack; great tip for those new to the photography bit. Smile Even though I don't use my 200MM lens that much, I consider it more a "prop" that I carry around my shoulder and again, as an identifier that, hey, I'm the big shot, I'm the PHOTOGRAPHER here; and, don't even think of mixing me up with the videographer who now has a BO problem from running around and sweating his *ss off all day. Wink

Yeah the lens hood makes a big difference!

Our back up is a digital rebel xt, kinda small (and a lot of guests have them too!). So to chunk it up we put a flash bracket on it and yes the lens helps too.

It's such a "man" idea to think the person with the biggest guns wins. Laugh I actually prefer the feel of the rebel as it fits my hands better, same megapixels as the bigger camera, but yeah, part of it is show sadly enough the theory of 'it isn't the size, it's how you use it' doesn't really apply to photography, although it really should.

Re: [Brackish] Neat camera strap for carrying two bodies at once [In reply to] Can't Post

I like carrying two cameras at once. I usually have the zoom on one and the 50mm f1.8 on the other and switch back and forth between the two all day. It's just quicker and easier than going back to the camera bag.

Speaking of which one time I went to my camera bag to get a lens. The camera bag was in the park, about 30 feet from where the bride was. One of the brides' maids came running over screaming that what was I doing I wasn't supposed to be leaving yet. Tongue

I'm looking forward to working with some of the more well-known
videogs in the state. As I'm setting up the formals after
the ceremony I'm going to turn to the videog and
say "you know, my poses are copyrighted". Sly
