Need help for lighting indoor group formals Can't Post

What are y'all doing for lighting your group formals at the
altar? Can it be done decently with an on-cam flash?
I'm not real thrilled with the idea of putting up
umbrellas and running the electrical cords because, for
one, I'm paranoid about the cords being a trip
hazard - taping the cords down doesn't seem like
a practical solution.

Would like to hear some options for lighting those
poorly-lit areas in front of the altar.

Depends on the size of the church. If there's room for two small stands, two SB-800's and an SU-800. 100% wireless and very powerful light. Otherwise just one high bracket-mounted SB-800.

Hi, Darren.

With the "two SB-800" setup, are you using any diffusers
or just going direct on? You put them off at about
45 degree angles from the group?

What's your thought about using umbrellas?

I use the diffusers that come with the units.

Yes 45 degrees space permitting. Even lighting.

No time to mess with umbrellas.

Unless you have help, there is usually no time to set up extra lights and break them down again and pack up and follow the limo to the park. I have seen people with the Canon 580 flash put a second flash on a stand for that extra punch.
